RMTs in BC are trained in:
The assessment and diagnosis of soft tissue and joints of the body. The treatment and prevention of injury, pain and physical disorders
RMTs are dedicated to treating your symptoms of pain and dysfunction, including the underlying causes.

It is widely understood that massage therapy decreases stress and helps control pain. Perhaps less known is the effectiveness of massage therapy in treating deeper structures of the body such as ligaments, bones and joints, fascia, blood vessels, organs and other soft tissues of the body.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is all about restoring patients back to normal function
This can involve reducing pain, improving movement and strength, using various treatments, such as manual therapy and exercise.

Registered Reflexology Therapy

Reflexology is the study of reflexes. Reflexes are clusters of nervous tissue located throughout the body, especially in the hands, feet and
ears. Reflex points are directly connected through the Peripheral Nervous System to specific parts, organs, and glands of the body. Stimulating reflex points relieves tension, improves circulation, and promotes balance to all the systems of the body.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a principle-based manual therapy that uses gentle manipulations to restore motion and align the structures of the body. An Osteopathic Manual Practitioner facilitates the body's natural ability to self-heal and self-regulate by removing restrictions on all layers of tissue to liberate the pathways for blood, lymph, and nerves. This leads to better function of the body as a whole.

Hello Vernon community! My name is Eric Beech, long-time resident of the North Okanagan. My undergraduate was completed at UBCO in 2015 for Human Kinetics. That was followed by grad school at Queen’s University in 2018 for my Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. The initial years of my career have been in Vernon since then. I currently live in Armstrong, alongside my wife and family.

My background is in athletics, particularly in strength training/bodybuilding, but also includes various activities such as running, hiking, yoga, and sports. A large portion of my work experience is in personal training, which pairs nicely with Physiotherapy practice. Manual therapy is another main component of my treatment. This helps reduce pain and restore functioning. This is rounded out with teaching and education on the body, as well as incorporating breathing techniques and relaxation strategies when necessary.

My main goal in Physiotherapy is to help coach and guide you in an active lifestyle that is most meaningful for you. This will help reduce your future risk of injury and improve your quality of life. Working together, we can build a strong relationship that will get you back doing what you love again!

Hi everyone, my name is Mark Bourcet. I was born and raised here in Coldstream, BC. I’ve played sports my whole life, specifically hockey and football. Throughout my sports career I’ve had pretty much every injury under the sun, from ankle sprains to ACL tears to concussions. After tearing my ACL, I completely retooled how I trained, focusing on mobility and injury prevention. This led to a real passion for human performance and completing a degree in Kinesiology from UBCO. I figured out quickly that research wasn’t for me. I needed something more hands-on, and I applied to OVCMT. I completed my RMT training and board exams in 2021. I absolutely love high quality movement and, as Gray Cook said, “Move well, then move often.” My primary goal is to use my training and personal experience with injury to help people regain mobility, improve how they move, and hopefully to help them move well for as long as possible.

Hi, I’m Cael, your local Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. I am originally from Barrie, Ontario, but made Vernon my home in 2021. Nothing compares to having all of my favourite hobbies right in my backyard!

I truly believe in the body’s innate ability to self-heal and self-regulate, my job is to facilitate this process by helping your body move with more ease by relieving restrictions in motion so that your arteries, veins, lymphatics, and nerves can do their jobs efficiently, the way nature intended. This freedom in motion positively impacts all systems of the body, leading to a reduction in symptoms, increased energy, and overall better health! This happens through gentle manipulations like myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, and joint articulations to get everything balanced and moving so your body can perform its best. Osteopathic treatment can help with a wide variety of issues including poor mobility, aches and pains, digestive issues, migraines, and much more!

With 8 years of education, I first earned my Honours Bachelor of Physical and Health Education from Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario. After this, I craved a deeper understanding of anatomy and physiology and a way to put my knowledge into practice to help people reclaim their health. This led me to the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy where I obtained my Master in Practice of Osteopathic Manipulative Science. During my 4 years of Osteopathic education, I completed 4200 hours of training including 1000 supervised clinical hours. I am a professional member of Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN) which is recognized by Canadian insurance companies and covered under most extended health plans, however, I do not offer direct billing.

I look forward to helping you get back to living your highest quality of life!

I always knew that I wanted a career that would allow me to utilize my empathy and compassion to help others. I graduated OVCMT in 2020 and have since worked here at Arise. I grew up with a grandfather who suffered from a severe brain injury before I was born. He taught me patience, compassion and understanding at a very young age. My main goal as an RMT is to provide a safe and supportive space to promote healing, rehabilitation, and wellbeing.

Each of us are different, comprised of numerous and ever changing factors including genetics, injuries, habitual posture, likes and dislikes, etc. This is why I include a thorough interview and assessment with each treatment as it allows me to create a treatment plan best suited for your needs. Techniques I use in treatment include swedish massage, myofascial release, trigger point release, neuromuscular therapy, joint mobilization and positional release. I plan to expand my knowledge on exercise rehabilitation and manual lymph drainage.

I was born and raised in the Okanagan and enjoy the outdoors; from hiking to snowshoeing, kayaking to snowboarding, and anything in between. Quieter hobbies such as drawing, painting and reading a good book are also core parts of who I am.
